Packed and Ready

Although this trip to Scandinavia will only be 17 days vs 29 days in Scotland, it doesn’t seem i can pack any less.  There are just some basic things that must go no matter the length.  Toiletries for one, at least one pair of stockings for layering in case it gets cold and a sweater or poncho for same reason.  Two pairs of shoes, walking/hiking and another for slightly dressier occasion.  From there it depends on the resources you may have at your destination.  I try to make accommodations so that the washing facilities are spaced so that i can wash all the clothes at some point.

My Coleman spinner carry-on weighs 6.3 lbs and the total weight is now 20.5 lbs which also includes my small computer, cord and plug and a book to read.  Still a bit heavy, but not sure where to make cuts. Hmmmm.

First trip with a spinner – looking forward to trying it.

Cheers!

Travel Light!

In September/October of 2014, my 2 sons and i spent a month in Scotland.  Travel light is my mantra – above is my wardrobe for the month.  With the exception of key pieces, ie the new Ecco walking shoes ( have never spent so much on shoes, but arthritis and old age are requiring me to make investment in quality shoes now) and the 100% Shetland wool ponch we had made from our own wool, the remaining total investment was about $40, including the suitcase.  Since then, i’ve given away the old style suitcase (it’s wheels were too close together and it was a fight to keep it from toppling over on uneven surfaces) and purchased a new one with four wheels.  Looking forward to trying it out on the upcoming trip to Scandinavia – leaving tuesday and meeting my daughter in Copenhagen.

Cheers!

Second Hand Saves

A child after my own heart!  Youngest son, college-bound Nathan, scored well at the second hand shops in Chillicothe today.  He has decided to spiffy up his wardrobe from jeans and t-shirts to a bit better dressed these past months.  Although his shoe purchases were high, there’s not much to be done with that.  He still did well buying new.  Honestly, he was in a shoe poor situation – everything he had is worn out and will be thrown away.

One dark blue classic styled 100% worsted wool, fully lined suit coat - $5.00. The other is half lined and not as fancy at $3.00.

Three dress shirts: Calvin-Klein, Van Heusen, and Hathaway. Cost of all three totalled $6.00. Like new, maybe never worn.
